President's Message
Hello fellow Rotarians. Thank you for the honor and privilege to serve as your new president for the 2009-2010 year. I look forward to a fun and full year of serving the Temple Rotary Club and the Community. Thank you Danny for a great 2008-2009 year.

The photo on the left is the 2008-2009 board and the photo on the right is the 2009-2010 board. Everyone on the old board looks so much happier!
To get started, I would first challenge all the members of the Temple Rotary Club to look out into the community and to bring one new member into the club this year and to make sure they become active in club activities. New members are the lifeblood of Rotary.
Second, I have asked David Yeilding to head up a new "Transportation Committee". This committee will be responsible for pinpointing club members who are in need of rides to our weekly meetings and monthly socials, maybe 5 or 6 people that could rotate the task. David would like to meet with these volunteers for a short time after the regular meeting this week, July 2nd, to come up with a plan. Please consider volunteering for this committee, Rotary fellowship is a very important part of the Rotary experience and we want as many members to participate as possible.
We have changed the time and day of the monthly board meetings to best accommodate this year's board. Basically it will be the Wednesday after the third Tuesday of each month. The dates of the board meetings are below. All members and red badgers are welcome to attend.
Lastly, I want to thank Kat Johanns for the lovely induction party she held at her house on Saturday night. What an honor to have so many wonderful people there to support me in my presidency. I am very grateful for all the dear friends I have made over the years in Rotary. We had a drawing for prizes and great food. Thank you all for being there and thank you Kat.

I apologize for the long newsletter this week but I have a lot of information I wanted to share.
Last Week Message
Last Week’s Meeting was a club assembly and the last official meeting with Danny Dunn as our leader. We were visited by the Firefighter of the Year Scott Tippen and Policeman of the year Dan Kallus. Both were awarded this honor for their consistent dedication to our community. Mr. Tippen was one of the first responders to the infamous truck crash at the Marriot Residence Inn. He was the first to reach the driver of the truck where he proceeded to climb into the crushed cab and stay with the injured driver until they were able to safely remove him from the wreckage. Mr. Kallus has been with the Temple Police Department for many years and shared with our club several experiences he has encountered, including a call from a resident because their toilet was overflowing. Danny, next time you might want to call a plumber instead of the police.
100% Dinner
The 100% Dinner is tentatively scheduled at Sammons on August 21st, 2009.
Marble Falls Fish Fry
For the past 59 years, the Marble Falls Rotary Club has been hosting all of the clubs in the District. The Fish Fry is not a Fundraiser. It is a time for all of the presidents, officers, and members to get together and enjoy the best catfish around, prepared by our own club members. As always, we have good entertainment for all Rotarians and spouses. This also presents an excellent opportunity to invite a new member. The Fish Fry is always the second Friday in July. This year it will be held on July 10th at the Marble Falls High School Cafeteria at 6:30 p.m. (directions enclosed). Bring all of your officers, club members, and spouses and join us in our annual celebration!
The Marble Falls Rotary Club will provide each incoming club president an opportunity to win a Paul Harris Fellow award in a special drawing to be held the night of the Fish Fry. Bring your family and friends as we celebrate together!
